Let’s face it, Boulder public courts are facing some problems. Among them, too few available courts for too many players, and for those courts we do have, many, many quality issues. But we can do something about it if we make ourselves heard. Details within!

The 2021 USTA league season will be here before you know it. And since registration deadlines are four to five weeks before the season starts, now is the time to be putting your team together or finding a team to play on. We have all the info in our BTA 2021 Leage brochure.

Our next BTA Winter Social is coming up February 6. Play will be held from 6-8 p.m. at the APEX Tennis Center in Arvada. With the new eased Covid restrictions we will have four courts available, so we’re open for 16 players. Masks must be worn into the building, but are not required once play begins.

The deadline is approaching to register for our Jan. 9 BTA Winter Social. We need three more players to fill out our two courts. Play will be held from 6-8 p.m. at the APEX Tennis Center in Arvada. Masks must be worn into the building, but are not required once play begins.

Due to new Covid restrictions, there will only be two doubles courts of play at the December 5 Winter Social, instead of the original four. Eight players are already signed up, so registeration for this event is now closed. It’s not too early to think about the January 9th social!

BTA will be offering four indoor winter tennis opportunities for those of you with cabin fever. They will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. at the APEX Tennis Center in Arvada, with the first one starting December 5. Masks must be worn into the building, but are not required once play begins.

BTA held its first drop-in of the summer last Saturday, and it was a COVID-safe success. With this dry run out of the way, we can now officially announce that Saturday morning drop-in will be ongoing for the rest of the summer.

With Boulder Parks and Rec now opening up courts for long-term rental, BTA teams can again host league play — so the second season is on! As well, BTA Saturday morning drop-in will resume on July 25th.

The short version, there are no courts available for league matches and no way for BTA teams to host a match on a home court. So BTA will not be able to field any teams for the first shortened league season.
