Happy Holidays from the BTA!

A whole lot has been going on this year, what with our usual Austin Scott Tournament, league play, Saturday drop-ins, and winter socials. Add to that our presenting our tennis issues to Boulder City Council and the Boulder Parks and Rec Advisory Committee, our state of Boulder tennis survey, our work to partner with Boulder pickleball players, etc. and there’s plenty to catch up in our Seasons Greetings message.

Rather than build much-needed dedicated pickleball courts, Boulder Parks and Recreation has instead turned over the tennis courts at North and South Boulder Rec Centers to pickleball. In addition, Boulder stands to lose up to twenty-seven other tennis courts in the next few years. In response, the tennis community is upping the ante to push for more new tennis courts and/or a tennis center in Boulder. And you can help. First step is signing up to support the effort and taking the survey.

The Boulder County Cup

Join in the fun from 9:00 – noon on October 1 with the Boulder County Cup, where 3.0 – 4.0 rated members of BTA mix and match to duke it out on the courts against members of CVTA (Louisville) and LTA (Longmont). Men’s doubles, women’s doubles, and mixed doubles are all played. BTA could still use a few good volunteers!

Volunteer day – Part Deux! Cleanup/weeding for SBRC tennis courts

For our second volunteer day, BTA is partnering with Boulder Parks and Rec AND the Boulder pickleball community on a court cleanup/weeding day at the South Boulder Rec Center courts. We’re asking for a few good volunteers to represent the tennis player side of the equation on Monday, September 19 as we all team up to make these courts better than we started with.
